Curious if anyone has any idea what qualifications are needed to work here, and whether or not they hire on a regular basis (perhaps not the case)?

I think turnover is relatively low.

Although I cannot for sure tell you what they want qualification and experience wise, I can tell you what they didn’t/don’t want.

Last year, they didn’t want a related Diploma, BA and MA with 8 years experience teaching adults (2 of those years in a similar EAP context in Country), a Celta and Module 1 Delta, plus recent papers delivered at large international conferences and publications in highly indexed journals.

I am goddamn ugly so perhaps a more handsome face would have swung it, or maybe a U.K. Higher Education Fellowship, full Delta, or even a Ph.D.

It is worth applying if you meet their minimum requirements outlined on their Jobs Portal. Now I am settled in a new job, I won’t be applying again, so that is one less CV in the recruiting mix.

They are a small operation with a relatively low turnover. Salaries are good for English teaching so people stay.

To offer a counter point - I was offered a position with them in 2014 but didn't accept it for personal reasons. Compared to you I didn't have much, MA, CELTA, a few years of experience in Chinese universities and some experience in my home country. Maybe they've got pickier since then.

To OP, don't worry too much about what they want, they should be the ones to say 'no' rather than you. Submit an application and see where it takes you.

@ The bear... must be blessed with a Paddington face and not cursed with a Grizzly mush like me. 🙂

But seriously, good to hear it was/is a case of numbers for the main part.

Thanks for the replies.

I think my qualifications are similar to The Bear (though I perhaps have more experience - though not university experience)
