As it stands, terrible - never sign this unless the '5,000 or higher' becomes a concrete, higher number. 7,000 would be a bare minimum IMO - dependent on your needs. Personally i wouldn't go anywhere near 7,000 either, but many find it acceptable |

“F” visa for one semester teacher |
No.
There's probably other bad stuff as well, but this is the dealbreaker. The school is shady. |

Since they can get Z visas for one year teachers they're probably just trying to save money by getting F visas for those here for a single term. I'm sure a lot of places do it; some have connections and the local bureaus turn a blind eye, some do it because TIC.
That doesn't change the fact that it's illegal and, whether or not the school gets fined, you're the one who runs the risk of being thrown out. Even if you come for a year on a Z visa there is a chance they could get caught hiring someone else on an F visa and lose their license altogether. Best case scenario leaves you standing on the corner with your suitcase. |

This place looks like a really modern university to me. The website and pictures..looks like any univ in the US to me. Someone posted the place is shady but I am not sure what that is based on...reputation? It is Jinan University..if anyone knows anything about it. |

Try reading exactly what JamesD and johnpartee said until you understand.
To speed things up.....
An F visa is not for work; an F visa will not permit you to get an RP (Residence Permit) or an FEC (Foreign Expert Certificate).
Working on an F is illegal.
The school (you know...the one with the pretty pictures) is asking teachers to work illegally.
Shady. |

"...if both parties are satisfied with each other after one semester contract, ... University will help foreign teachers to apply for legal stay according to Chinese Laws..."
Help? The school has to arrange for it. Then I suppose the FT would have to take a run to HK.
But until then, Foreign Teachers will stay illegally.
Save yourself while there's still time. RUN!

Jinan university is in Guangdong. THIS PLACE IS NOT JINAN UNIVERSITY. it might be the university of Jinan, or, more likely it is some private school trying to get business by imitating a famous name. So far we have illegal visa conditions, fake name, and lousy pay - sure, sure - this one's a keeper |

It's likely the poster just confused the names and the place is University of Jinan (UJN), which is in Jinan.

Provided the school can help the teacher get a Z visa this deal's no worse than most university jobs advertised here. |

They can (supposedly).. of course that is after a 6 month stint as an illegal worker under an F visa...... Perhaps you missed that part. I do not believe that would be considered to be no worse than other Uni gigs advertised.
Really...this Uni cracks me up.
They want you to go there and work illegally and if they like you they'll help you apply for legal stay according to Chinese laws.
How any Uni can get away with advertising something like this is mind boggling.
Oh yeah....TIC. |

They advertise a Z visa for a year contract, which is fine. F visa for one term, which is not fine. My advice is don't take the one term option and ask if you can sign a one year contract even if starting in February. If they don't agree then move on. |

Perhaps I am reading it wrong but....

....sure sounds like they won't extend a 1yr position to anyone who has not completed the 6 month illegal 'trial' period under an F.
EDIT:
At any rate...the Uni is obviously not shy about breaking Chinese laws and that should be considered about the biggest red flag there is. |

"...ask if you can sign a one year contract even if starting in February..."
At this point, February is half over. How can the school get a LOI out and delivered to the prospective FT so that he can get his Z visa in time for him to arrive in February? You must mean "mid-march". |

You're the final authority, OP, but you can find plenty of legit positions. |
