| I'm a few months into a signed 12 month teaching contract, and 6 month accommodation contract (set up by my company). If I was to suddenly leave for another country without informing anyone, is there actually anything they can do? any legal/financial consequences? (apart from the obvious of not receiving another wage payment) I'm not planning on coming back to Japan again. |

Please, are you serious? According to your other post, you've been here for years. You know that there is a small percentage of flakes, freaks, and jerks in this business who cut and run and nothing happens to them. Nothing will happen to you once you join their ranks. Come on man, gotta be a better way to handle whatever situation you are in than pull a runner. |

Why don't you tell us which school you're planning to do a moonlight flit from?
Then another teacher who's desperate for a job can arrange to be at the right place, at the right time, and save the day. Everybody's happy.

That's assuming it's a good, reputable place to work. Otherwise, even someone who is desperate will be cursing the OP's name. If that's the case, the OP would still be doing everyone a service by warning about the school, but it would be understandable if he or she waited until after they left. |

I'm assuming nothing of the sort. But from what I've seen, there are folk who need a visa who will do pretty much anything to get that first gig in Japan. |

I meant what I said.
If you follow these forums, you'll know that there are lots of people who'd take pretty much anything to get that first visa.
Whatever his reasons, they're not just about this job. The OP wrote elsewhere that he's taught in Japan for 11 years. Now he says he's leaving for good. |

I think Pitarou is assuming that even if the job is a bad one, there are other people who would gladly replace the OP just to get that first visa, and get to Japan. |
