| Does anyone have any current, first-hand info on the situation here for U.S. citizens? The usual will do -- approximate salary for a related MA and local experience, accommodation, quality of work environment, life in Taif, etc. Thanks a bunch. |

* Approx. 80K USD / yr. + expenses & allowances.
* Large compound with usual luxuries...
From the latest advert (and confirmed):
"Benefits include secure housing, fully furnished with amenities including basic cable and internet; on site recreation center with restaurant, convenience store, bowling alley, swimming pool, gym, library, and IT lab; company transportation and beach access to the Red Sea. "
* The last two - I cannot confirm. |

| PS: Fairly intensive vetting/application process that concludes with a 3rd and final interview in Massachusetts with the SALTS Rep. |

| That's not bad. So, about how much is the total salary payment each month broken down into base salary + allowances? |

It is the second best paying gig in KSA....after ARAMCO direct hire. Students in Jeddah are terrible. Military blames teachers and holds them accountable for discipline problems, ie. you can be fired for students sleeping in your class, even during the 5 minute break when you try to run and use the bathroom.
Taif students are a little older but are all officers, so you still get blamed for everything and officers feel even more entitled to do whatever they want.
In short...
is great around 86K a year.
Benefits are great.
No children allowed.
Students are terrible.
You will earn twice as much as most other jobs in KSA.
You will age twice as fast as well due to the stress.
Pick your poison.... |

| "Students can't or won't learn ? Bad teacher". This seems a common paradigm, especially in military outfits in KSA. As in most societies, the brightest and the best do not often end up in the Military ! |

| I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. |
