Does your institution encourage attendance to events like TESOL Arabia? |
Yes! Gave us Thursday off and they are paying for the event. |

No, and may be posting an armed guard in our building to make sure we don't try to sneak out to attend. |

I am curious as to how many universities actually want employee development and encourage it. If yes, please name the university. |

They don't want teachers to attend because of the job fair, about 50% of the teachers I work with are going purely for that reason. The HOD tried to block them but the Dean overruled him. |

90% of the teachers here are attending for that reason. I am actually excited to learn something. |

More professional employers do want their teachers to attend... and especially to do presentations. This is true of SQU in Oman, but more so in the UAE... HCT, UAEU, AUS, and ZU encourage their teachers to take part.
It is the borderline employers that try to stop their teachers from attending... for the obvious reason.

Universities may want their educators to attend but the Primary and Secondary Schools certainly don't encourage it. Mine doesn't! |
