I recently had an interview with KAU via skype, very short interview. The 'committee' that conducted the interview didnt bother turning on their webcam. which was a lil wierd talking at a green screen... Anyway I didnt get the opportunity to discuss anything as they seem to be in hurry to get it over. Is this normal? Also how do they calculate salary? I have 4 yrs experience, TEFL and Masters. i know the Housing allowance isnt much also..would be great to get some info from you guys. |

I had a similar experience with them as well. The interview did seem quite rushed. They didn't really wait around to see if I had any questions either, but all other correspondence with them was cordial and prompt. You should hear back from them regarding the interview in 1-2 weeks. |

I've got an interview with them in two days. How was your interview? Did they test your knowledge ? |

No, I have a degree and masters in a non-English subject, TEFL, PGCE, and almost 5 years teaching experience, including a year teaching in a Gulf country. |

Hi All,
I got an offer through ICEAT ( generous one!) but I wonder if KA's ELI are still accepting applications?
Thanks

You must have been reading other threads. LOL
I will just say that you should research any employer that offers - here and on The Google - to see what the complaints are and be warned. YMMV
The key to success in Saudi is to arrive with realistic expectations (ie... low), lots of patience, and a sense of humor.

I have an experience of teaching in Saudi ( six years) but I was last there in 2006. This time I have a plan ( housing is priority ) and after I read some of the posts I realized that applicants only concentrate on culture, money and other interests ( they are totally entitled to do so) but from my humble experience housing and accommodation come top of the list.
As for the quote on ur reply, yes, u r right
kind regards |

The ELI at KAU hires all year long. I have seen new teachers coming over in May. They need to fill 50 positions (due to growing demand and number of students going into the program) before the start of the new year (Sept/2014). |
