Despite having a French fiancee, I had planned to work in US or Saudi in 2014. Now GF thinks we could move up wedding & I might teach ESL in Paris (She's in MEAUX, near SNCF ...approx 41k by rail)
Years ago, I heard ESL in Paris was nuts (always driving somewhere for work) but maybe not exactly true. Sorry for my ignorance, but can you survive from this if NO rent to pay ?? (Obviously, ESL staff are common commodity) ... I guess i wll also have to figure a delay between wedding and work visa , too.

I have a CELTA, an MA in French (study at Nanterre X), 9 years ESL teaching (adults/kids) & have a few recommendations from French Colonels from one year I worked to ensure US-French relations (& translations) in East Africa (way fun) Also know financial markets in Eng/Frn ...so MAYBE my CV would interest someone, Dieu Sh'Allah! Dealing w/ french ppl is easy part for me.

LinkedIn forums have been a lousy start.
If someone could tell me expected pay rates and hours/week doable & maybe a site withlist of employers or how one might research this, would be very appreciated. Smile

Seems like you have to do a lot of the work before arriving: http://www.expatica.com/fr/essentials_moving_to/essentials/a-guide-to-work-permits-in-france-12891_10426.html

I lived and worked there for two years (but I'm a Brit) and never drove anywhere, the Metro is fantastic. Check out tefl.com for jobs. You may also want to leverage your French fiance's local knowledge by considering auto-entrpreneur status.

Good luck.

I teach in Paris (I have an EU passport), and can tell you this. Business Language Skills (based on 09/2013) paid 20 euros per hour gross, but no compensation for travel.

Private university jobs can be found. Try typing in "The Language Network, Paris" on Google and you can search for jobs, however you must become a member before you can look.

You can try leboncoin.fr, vistastreet, FUSAC, craigslist, TEFL.com, and les pages jaunes.
