Two pro-Taiwan US House members introduced a resolution on Thursday calling for US President George W. Bush to ask Taiwan to deploy marines to Iraq.

The way I understood it the Government of the Republic of China offered the troops and the US congress has just accepted. A bad idea to start with but it may be what it takes to bring some political stability to the island.
Hopefully it won't be a repeat of the R.O.C.'s excursion into the Vietnam war.

This morning's paper said the guvmint had nixed the troops, considerably lowering our threat level here.
