I'm moving to Jiangsu Province and I'm wondering if anyone knows how long will it take from the time I get my Medical Check done to getting my Residency Permit.
Thank you |

This all up to how fast your employer does their job. medical check doesn't require an appointment but the results take 3-5 days to be mailed to the employer.
Figure FEC takes about 2-5 working days if everything is ok THEN in Suzhou they now say 15 days for the RP visa.
In fact they told me 15 days unless I want expedited for an extra 300y - I pay it.
Truth is they dropped my passport at PSB on June 3 and the new visa said June 4 but they didn't mail it back to my employer for another 8 days. So it sat on someone's desk for 6 days after the visa was put in. |

It depends upon the city, the PSB, and where you've been before you arrived in Jiangsu. When I first arrived in China, I had stamps in my passport that indicated that I had visited the middle east a few times. When the FAO took me to the PSB, the PSB took my passport and made us wait for two hours in a conference room. Then we were told that we'd be called when the permit was granted. It took 4-5 weeks.
After that passport expired, I got a new one. No Middle Eastern stamps. Residence permits then took about a week.
If you pass the medical, you're home free. I wouldn't worry about the residency permit unless there are complications in your past that the PSB might find out about (which is almost nothing, especially if this is your first trip to China). |

Good to see that I am not the only one who suspects Bud Powell of being a jihadist.
Thought that Jiangsu now requires a criminal background check, that ridiculous test, and potentially a few other things. No need for those too poster?
Jiangsu is where I spent my entire five years in China. For China it does seem to be a rather efficient and civil place. |

I agree that Jiangsu is a lot more straightforward and fairly organized

| New school (Sichuan) started the application process yesterday. I asked whether I'd have my passport back in the next couple weeks and the response was: "I don't know. I will try." After this week I'll have nothing to do other than move my stuff and wait for my flight home. |

| I got told (Jiangsu) a few weeks ago 5 working days for the Residence Permit, 5 working days for the FEC (in reality it took 3 or 4), and 2~3days for the medical check, although it can usually be expedited to 1~2 days for an extra fee. If your FAO is on the ball (not likely) some of this can be done simultaneously. At least where I am CBCs aren't yet required - that was as of a trip to the PSB today to change schools and transfer RPs. In fact even the medical check wasn't required surprisingly. |
