I have the original documentation (degrees) and you can call the school and verify my years. I have read online that having your degrees attested has nothing to do with verifying the validity of your degrees aka did you actually go to the school and earn them but a way for schools to devalue your degree and offer you less of salary once you arrive.

Is this more web BS or partial fact?

Thanks people

Jay

The process of attesting/authenticating your degree depends on your nationality. It has nothing to do with "devaluing" academic credentials in order to pay a lower salary. However, be aware that degrees obtained via distance/online coursework are not accepted.

Think about it the other way around. If someone presented you with a copy of a diploma in Arabic awarded by a university in the Arab world. how would you know what it meant and what it was ? You would get it attested. The same with your certs - except in reverse !

That is my experience with my Masters even though the school was ranked 100th by U.S. News and World Report in the U.S.A, and 50th for regional schools.

If you live in the us you need to get official transcript sealed from the school, verify the degree via national clearing house, and take a copy to a notery testifying that it is a valid copy of the degree. Also, as if that wasn't enough, a letter from the university station how you took the classes and how many credits were online if any. This is required for the visa.
