Hello,
Do the schools in Kiev hire year-round, or is it a seasonal thing? If it's seasonal, when would be the best time to try? Thanks in advance. |

Doing a search on the job board shows there's been ads every couple of months. Although I believe there's a summer lull. |

If you want a full-time position including work visa and accommodation, the best time to find work is May to August.
If you don't mind having only a series of part-time contracts with competing schools, no work visa (which means you'll be "illegal" after 90 days or need to do risky border runs where you might not gain re-entry), and no paid accommodation (you'll have to pay for it out of whatever you earn), then you can find work at any time of year, especially in the larger cities.
All that said, I've been in Ukraine for 2 years and love it here, but I'm planning on leaving. The political unrest is just worsening over time, and it could honestly sprout a civil war or prompt an invasion by Russian and/or NATO forces. You don't want to be in a war zone. Also, the local currency (hrivna) has lost half its value vs. the dollar over the last 6 months, and continues to slide. Prices have risen substantially.
If you're going to work here despite the political situation and economic situation, you want to be sure that your salary is guaranteed in US$ or euros, not in hrivna. |
