I have just seen an advert for an English Teacher at the IPA in Saudi Arabia.

Does anyone have any information on them?

They say they have sites all over the Kingdom and offer a very competitive salary with benefits.

Last I heard was that Education Experts (EdEx) was recruiting for IPA. I suspect their package to be similar to what they offer other teachers.

I did a search for IPA before responding, but all that came back were posts where others had mentioned them in other threads; I didn't find any thread discussing IPA specifically. Although it's also true that something like 540 results came up, and I didn't look through them all..

I worked with a dirty brown noser once who even went so far as writing various letters to the usual dysfunctional saudi administration at a "prominent" uni about all his colleagues' faults and unprofessional behaviors. This tactic worked temporarily as he managed to climb a bit up a shaky ladder. Then, to dislodge another aspirant, who was scheduled to give a professional development workshop one evening, he put a laxative into this other guy's tea. He was observed doing this so when the fracas of a discommoded stomach ensued someone pointed the finger at him. Poor fool was forced to resign although the victim insisted he be banished from the country. He worked for a contractor, so they just moved him to IPA.

Anyway, I heard from another friend that he got promoted to a supervisory position there within 6 months of taking his new post. So careful! He's probably still there, desperately pulling himself up another such rickety ladder.

Why didn't the people watching this madman put a laxative into the guy's tea tell him before he drank it? Did they just sit there and let the guy drink up? They must have known it was something that didn't belong in the tea when they watched another person muck around with it.

Only a couple saw him and they weren't really sure what was happening exactly, but it became very apparent when the guy got the runs. I think, as this guy was a problematic character himself, that those who saw didn't much care. The offending fella had actually talked about doing this before, but no one believed he would. People talk about all manner of things to blow off steam. But when he actually did, and wasn't just feigning putting something in, and the other guy really got sick, I reckon the ugliness of it worked on their consciences.
