It was recommend by the Prophet pbuh. It is a Sunna ! As is the use of henna ! |

scotty you mean it was recommended by the Prophet (PBUH).
I think the use of perfume will depend on the percentage of alcohol in it. Some Moslem scholars say if the percentage of the alcohol is low (<5%), then there is no need to worry. |

Why? Are you going to be under the influence of the 'drink coming from grapes and grain' just by smelling it? |

By perfumes (not the usual French kind), Muslims usually use purified, non alcohol based perfumes- 'attar'. The Prophet (PBUH) said to use it in moderation.
As for 'henna' absorbed into the skin and hair, becomes part of the body and is allowed. |

I wonder historically if they used Ambergris in their perfumes. Kind of reminds me of the "Tales from the Crypt" episode "Forever Ambergris". |
