Any info on Guatemala? I am thinking about going there to work after my stint in Mexico. Guatemala isn't really listed anywhere as far as job listings go on most sites, but I hear a lot of people talking about working there. I am thinking Antigua or Guatemala City, but would be open to any area really.
I am wondering about the amount of job opportunities, work visa possibility, cost of living, safety, and anything else really.
Thanks in advance for any info! |

If you are a native speaker with a tefl and degree you will find many jobs. The problem is these jobs are not posted online and often times you just have to walk around a city and ask people so expect a lot of footwork and talking, but there are many schools that will gladly hire you over a local. The pay is low, but this Guatemala. You will probably make more than the average worker, which isnt saying much so dont expect to be living it up. Also, remember that you are in competition with volunteers who sometimes pay for the opportunity to teach and this drives the wages down even more around tourist hot spots. |

Great, thank you! I just think it is strange that nothing is posted online, as opposed to other countries where there are tons of jobs posted. Not looking for a whole lot of money, just enough to support myself. |
