I started at more than this offered MA rate more than 10 years ago in Abu Dhabi. I also just read the advert and have never heard of this place.
Anyone out there know anything about it? |

The Abu Dhabi University is a new set up due to open in September in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Yes, the salaries are a joke and I'm really surprised to see that. I work for HCT and the salary for faculty with a DELTA or MA is similar to what they are offering for PhD qualified staff. We also get 61 calendar days of leave.
I wouldn't work in this country for that money. |

|

I was just offered 12000 a month plus the average benefit package. Is that more normal. I have a MA and 10 years of international experience. Oh, the rent allowance is 45,000 - that seems a bit low to me compared to other job listings I see....
What IS the norm at the university level? Are offered salaries negotiable? Has anyone ever had any success in negotiations? This info would be very useful. Thanks All! |

That's a more normal salary, but check out the other discussions on this school. There are also warnings posted in the Job Information Journal. |

Personally I wouldn't take a job there for twice the amount you're offered. Follow kaChing's advice and check out the threads below about the horrible working conditions and mis-management.
If you are starving and this is your only offer --- maybe.
VS
(PS: I've never known anyone who was able to negotiate any salary or benefits at the most reputable employers. Sometimes at a new place -- but it normally means desperation on their part -- and most likely you end up regretting it.) |
