Any suggestions on how to best set up a resume? A site where I could look at examples, or anyone offering to let me see their's would be most appreciated. I am excited to start a second career and experience another culture.
Although I have been conducting training and developing curriculum through out my 25 yr. career in Manufacturing, I have not ever had a position with a title that reflects being a "teacher". Mid Career I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education and Training. This month, I graduate with a MS in Education. I'm planning to take a CELTA if needed. The work forces I have been responsible for are multi cultural and often I work with individuals that have literacy issues, even if they are native speakers of English.
Any suggestions are welcome. |

Form and format will vary depending on the job market you are looking at.
Most of the world is NOT like your home in America (resume vs. CV). You do need to put information that you would not put on a resume at home.
In East/SE Asia as an example:
Keep it simple. The niceties and nuances of a resume are lost on the people reading them (not native speakers of English).
Personal information:
Passport photo
Name
Age
citizenship
contact information (e-mail, phone, mail).
Education:
Highest qualification to lowest.
Work experience if any (in reverse chronological order):
employer name, dates, job title, brief description.
Other RELEVANT experience / information / publications / workshops / presentations.
Keep it to about 2 pages for your basic, entry level EFL type jobs.
For "real" teacher jobs then a bit more complex and detailed is OK.

This is good advice. I'd also add that the OP should include his marital status as that is a big factor in many parts of the world. |
