OK, my fairly new boat shoes have recently acquired a nice growth of...mold! God, they are only two months old too. Here in South Guangdong province, it is a nightmare. Only recently the stores finally, FINALLY have been stocking silica boxes [*NOTE--if you don't know what silica is, it is the white "bead" stuff that you see in small packages when you buy say, shoes or even food. The packet is placed inside sealed containers where moisture may ruin a product. Silica boxes are a simple box containing a pouch of silica in the top; the water will collect in the bottom of the box. You place the boxes anywhere you may have problems with moisture], but I still have trouble with clothing and shoes at times. Best solution, literally SOLUTION mix?

Always heard bleach diluted works well, BUT...how little to use and NOT ruin colors in clothing? I think for shoes it doesn't matter.

ANYONE know the proper mixture required? I would guess it is something like 1 to 10 parts water...

You are experienced and know how damp Guangdong's climate is! My advice: don't put your clothes in a wardrobe! Keep them hanging on a rack that you may cover with some cloth, and buy a dehumidifier!
The aircon will take care of most of the humidity later this year, but in the next several weeks, expect some very serious and sudden rise of the dampness in the air, so much so that walls and ceramic floors will be glistening with moisture!

Thanks Roger!

yeah, I have a wardrobe, I may go buy an "open rack" as you suggested. The floors at my school are NOW glistening! Smile

Edward,
I am not a doctor but you said something that interested me. All these people are getting sick in Guandong Province, could it be from mold and mold spores. Maybe breathing the mold is not to healthy.
