I am trouble finding something related to SAFEA and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.......do SAFEA rules specifically state that the employer must provide housing (or allowance) to a foreign employee? If yes can you provide a reference? thx |

safea is an advisory body only. they make no rules.
they make suggestions. provinces or districts are free
to accept these suggestions and enact them as local laws.
they are also free to ignore them as unsuitable.
irregardless, i'm not aware of any law that states what
benefits an employer must provide. some schools provide
housing, others provide a housing allowance, and still
others provide nothing at all.
it's up to you, bro. either accept a contract as is, or
negotiate. and here are two important rules:
1. don't sign unless you agree to the terms.
2. |

"...safea is an advisory body only."
Good way to put it (provided that one believes that SAFEA really exists).
Because the school may amend SAFEA standard contracts to suit its needs, there are no standard SAFEA contracts. Whatever appears on the contract is what the school must provide. Period.
As ChoBro advised, if you don't like what you see on the contract, don't sign it. |
