General question: for someone who is not Muslim, is it better to put 'Christian' or 'Non-Muslim' on an application that asks for one's religion? Thanks.

MAYBE if the mother was Jewish, or at least maybe in Sudan, since they are holding a woman due to her father's religion, Islam.

I always wrote or ticked "Non-Muslim."

Wouldn't be easier if I just Muslim, even if I'm not.

It's the preferred religion.

Hmm... In my experience, the preferred qualifications for English language teachers was that they hold a relevant degree and experience and are native or near-native English speakers. Religion has nothing to do with the teacher's ability to do his/her job. Plus, if being a Muslim is required for a position (e.g., teaching in the cities of Mecca or Madinah and/or in an Islamic-based university), then it's stated in the job posting.

Once the authorities discover the person is not a Muslim (and they will find out), he/she would very likely be deported for lying to the passport authorities, especially since the iqama indicates if the holder is Muslim or not. When it comes to religion, Saudi Arabia is not the country to toy with. Besides, you couldn't even fake being a Muslim... Razz

Hey, where's that thread about flogging?

How exactly would someone find out if I were a Muslim or not?

Why on earth would you spend so much time on being negative about an 'insane' subject when you don't need to?

On the Iqama they put down your religion: Christian, Muslim. Simple!
No such thing as an Atheist, Agnostic, Humanist, etc, etc in the Arab world, so just put down what you were born into and that's it. Rolling Eyes

Ya'Allah!!! Ye Gods! and the rest of them!!!! Question
