Haha, what a coincidence! I just had lunch with a guy who's friends with someone who works there. A friend of a friend - I know, quite a stretch but I'll see if I can get some email/contact numbers for you.
We talked about the accommodation for teachers, apparently it's very good, decent size and well furnished, I believe the actual description was 'palatial'.
Now the downside, they are apparently very strict with visitors. There's a curfew enforced on foreign teachers, no guests are allowed to stay overnight and when Chinese people visit they must leave their ID cards with the security and collect them on their way out.
I would like to stress that I learnt this from a friend of a friend. We talked about it for two minutes. If it wasn't that I had this conversation perhaps 20 minutes ago, I would probably have forgotten about it. |

Many thanks, Shroob, for taking the time to reply with this most useful information. I'm most grateful. I feel that the information is spot on, and to be fair - this Univ. makes it pretty clear in their contract what is in store for teachers. Overnighters have to be married to you etc etc. Sounds good otherwise. Thanks! |

Hi, I am also thinking of taking a job here. Have you moved there yet? Any news that should scare me?
Thanks! |

In the event I'm staying at my current school for another year - but no worries there I think - I heard a lot of good reports about it, although its visitor policy is a bit strict - see Facebook 'What's on in Changsha' there are teachers from the Univ on it, and they were very helpful to me in making my decision. Regards, Greg |

That's good to hear because I just heard back from that University myself. I didn't see whatever Facebook thing you were mentioning though. The 'what's on in changsha'.
I would love to talk to any former or current teachers there as well if at all possible.
Thanks! |

Yes, thank you redrose8988 - FB group is 'What's New in Changsha' - there are some helpful teachers there who will be able to answer your questions. It sounds like a very good place to work indeed, if a little on the strict side regarding visitor policy - which seems fair enough to me given its nature. |
