Hi guys,
I have interviewed for a position with Laureate College in Saudi Arabia.
I also have offers from ICEAT and Edex for King Saud University, Al Khaleej University of Tabuk but the Laureate job is the better package.
There is not much information on the forums about them apart from Daves ESL cafe which has opinions on the Jeddah school leader not being so nice and not to work for them because of that.
I guess if i will not be in Jeddah then I will not need to deal with this guy.
As a Company what are they like? Could anyone share any experience with them?
Secondly University of Tabuk anyone have any thoughts on them? The job is through Al Khaleej as of yet I have not recieved the offer but the 60 days annual leave which sounds good. It is not a direct hire as i dont have a masters degree so it has to go through Al Khaleej to obtain a visa as i am a BA holder.
Thanks

I've heard terrible things about Laurette...do a search on the forums and you will see many comments.
If you favour seclusion, I'd take the Al Khaleej job in Tabuk. I'm probably saying this because I have worked for them and I know that devil, but they are reliable when it comes to pay and visas. EdEx and ICEAT have a very sketchy track record. Sixty days paid holiday as well...come on!
If you really want to live in Riyadh and make many friends, take any of those Riyadh jobs. |

Do not even consider Laureate. They are the worst English school in Saudi Arabia with the worst students and management that will bully you and fire you on a whim.
Better to starve! |

This brings up the issue of whether or not it's better to come in on a business visa or a visa leading to an Iqama.
Business visa - quick and easy, relatively few expenses but easy to get fired and bilked for money.
Iqama - difficult and costly although sometimes some of the expenses are reimbursed. company is reluctant to fire. sometimes you get bilked for money anyway. |

Laureate provides iqamas isn't reluctant to fire any one. How else can they keep every one in constant mortal terror of immediate dismissal? This is their modus operandi. Sounds expensive and counter-productive, but hey that's also Laureate's mission statement: "we are passionate about providing education to young Saudi men and women that is expensive and counter-productive and disrespectful of our students and faculty alike. I may be exaggerating, but I am not at all wrong. |
