Hi everyone,
We will be leaving KSA in about 6 weeks, and moving to Oman (Yey!). There is one problem however, we would like to fly our cat with us.
Everything on the Oman side is going smoothly, and is all sorted. However, we are looking for a vet in the Eastern Province (we live in Al-Hasa, but i think Khobar is our best bet for this).
We need a vet who can do exit papers, so maybe one who is used to expats flying pets in and out of the country. While there are some great vets in our town, none of them know how to do the OFFICIAL paperwork.
Does anyone know any decent vets, and have their phone numbers? We have done lots of internet searches, and all the phone numbers are not in use and the e-mails get a server reply.
p.s. Ive searched the forums, and all the info seems to be for people bringing pets into the country, so isn't much help for us.
Thanks in advance,
Edd and Melissa. |

However, within those threads you'll likely find contact info of organizations that can point you to vets experienced in doing the requisite paperwork. Otherwise, do an Internet search for veterinarians khobar.

Thanks Nomad Soul,
these are the very forums i have already searched, and they do contain a couple of useful contacts in Riyadh, but that's a little far to drive with the cat in the car if there is a vet in Khobar.
I should probably explain as well, that we're aware of the process and it isn't too difficult, we simply need an ACTUAL vet around Khobar to fill in the paper work for us.
I have searched quite a lot on the net, Khobar vets, Dammam vets etc. But as i said, the e-mails and phone numbers don't work. So I now think my best bet is to ask people who live here and may know someone.
So if anyone knows a "proper/ official" vet in the Eastern Province, please let us know,
thanks. |

Since you're on a time crunch, instead of relying solely on this forum, I suggest you also try the various general expat forums which hit a wider population than just EFL teachers.
Good luck! |

LOL, thanks Nomad Soul.
I did indeed write on other forums, and have received the information from a helpful member. If anyone needs contact details for a Khobar vet with experience taking cats and dogs OUT of the Kingdom, then PM me and i will send you his mobile. Timewise, it can be done upto 4 days before travel. So in this case, 5 weeks was more than enough time.
I guess this thread is now closed.

You should post at least the clinic's name or website so that others who see this thread in, say, a year from now, won't be PMing you in vain. |

Ok, just to clarify.
The vet's name is Mohammad. The clinic is called Khobar Vets, in Khobar. I don't know where it is exactly, as i haven't been there yet, and i have that to look forward to. There is no website. I'm not going to post a mobile number on the internet (so bots don't get it), so if anyone would like it in the future, then feel free to give me a PM, or if anyone has any USEFUL information please post it below. Oh, and he said they also sell airline certified pet carriers. I hope someone finds this helpful.
Thanks,
Edd. |

Concerning airline approved crates, make sure it specifically complies with the airline carrier you are using. Each airline has its own specifications. Another tip to save time prior to your departure is to ask the vet to measure your cat's height, length and weight and also weight inside the crate, as most airlines will request this information. Also, it is important to make these reservations with the airline months before departure, as they only allow a certain number of pets. However, if you are bringing your cat as a carry on, there should be no problem.
You can find crate specifications at the airline's website under pet transport. Good luck. |
