I'm looking for small flat to rent on Anatolian side. Preferably by the sea.

Any contacts or info would be really appreciated.

Hi Vre,

Go to the area you want and just walk around. You'll see that vacant flats have signs in the windows, hopefully with the owner's number (ie, no agent's commission). Sometimes the kapaci has a key and will let you have a little look around. Very occassionally someone in the building can put you in touch with the owner directly and you can avoid going through the estate agent. Possibly a little unethical but 'when in Rome...' Wink

Failing that you can go into the local shops and ask the people there. They occassionally know of someone with a place to rent.

If you have no luck that way, you can start going around the estate agents in that area. I find it useful to prepare some small cards with your name, number, what you are looking for, and your price range. Turks hate writing stuff down. Smile

Then there are the newspapers. Sabah and Hurriyet have a lot of ads. There is one day when there are far more ads than on other days but I can't remember which one.

Finally you could try the 'net. Here are a few addresses:

Good luck!

Mike

I agree with Mike. Go to the area you want to live in and wander around looking for signs that say 'sahibden' This way you get out of paying the emlak fee which is 12% of the annual rent.
