|
|
I am returning to a school I worked at before in Beijing and they are now requesting a criminal record check. However, the city I am in is small and my current school is saying that the police have never done this before.
I can kind of understand it with Beijing being larger and the capital, but how does Beijing handle teachers from another province who don't have a criminal record check to give? Has anyone been in or are in the same situation?
It seems like maybe someone in Beijing is simply reading off of a list and may not know exactly all the requirements until application time. |

| You'll have to request one from your home country. If you're from the US and need an FBI check you better get cracking, they can take upwards of 6 weeks. Sometimes you can get away with a letter from your local county/sheriff. Many recent threads about this if you search. |

Try this link https://www.gov.uk/living-in-china it gives details of different ways of getting a certificate of no criminal record in China (Wu Fan Zui Ji Lu Zheng Ming 外国人无犯罪记录证明). It does not cover every region in China, but for the regions mentioned you apply to your local PSB or local notary public, or both. I would imagine that in other regions it would be something similar.
Try going to the PSB/notary public yourself (with a trusted Chinese speaker) if your school is reluctant or unable to help. |

As of today, we are "told" to have my current school write up something declaring no criminal record, then I have to do the same, and then the new school will do that. They, the new school in Beijing, will (in theory) take these three statements along with the letter of release and proof of FEC cancellation to the PSB in Beijing.
Does this sound like complete hogwash? |

| I'm just moved to Beijing from another province and all we needed was a criminal background check from back home. I've been in China 5 years so why not use a Chinese background check you know but that's what they wanted. |
