Hey guys,
Let say the visa expired in Jan 15 but my workplace only started processing my visa renewal in mid of Dec. According to Japan immigration website, renewal could take from 2 weeks-3months.
So what happens if my work visa expired while renewal still in process? |

As long as your visa renewal is in play before it expires, you're good. Shinagawa immigration told me, when I brought my papers two weeks before expiry, I ought not to travel out of the country until the renewal was finalized. They figured I'd be hassled on returning with a renewal pending. |

Why would you get rejected?
If there was an error on your application, you'd get a notice right away to correct it. This happened to me.
If you haven't done something criminal, there is little reason you'll be rejected. |

I had a similar situation where my work left it late to send the papers for renewal and then actually forgot to include something. Immigration put a stamp on my old Foreign Resident Card giving me a two-week extension or something like that, in which time the correct papers came. I suppose they would have been understanding even if it had taken longer, so I don't suppose you need to worry too much. |
