Hello,
Does anyone have information about this program?
http://www.hometohome.es/caps/eng/index.html
I've already asked to get in touch with current/past teachers, but not yet spoken to any. I have a second Skype interview with them soon. They don't seem shady, but they do seem like a small, informal, private outfit that provide teachers to public schools.
It's volunteering, and they say you can't teach private lessons but I imagine once you get there you can do as you please with your spare time.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has heard of it. |

I'd be careful with that offer. The conditions don't sound too good. 200 euros per month and free board with a family (I'm guessing one with kids looking for a live-in English teacher/au pair) in exchange for 25 hours in a Spanish school. Now, perhaps in central Barcelona that might not be so bad for a while, but if you're placed in rural Cataluña, you'll be bored out of your mind quickly. I spent one night in the town where the organization is based, Palau-Solità i Plegamans, and that was plenty for me because it was a total shithole.
They don't sound dodgy as such, but I'd steer clear of them. They're charging schools around 800 euros a month to put you there full-time and paying you 200. How is that a fair deal? To give you a comparison, in Madrid there's a language assistant program paying 1450 euros a month for 25 hours per week. |

I'm Canadian.
Going a little off-topic here, but I would like to go to France as another possibility, but the only program I know that would allow me to get a visa is this one http://www.ciep.fr/en/foreign-language-assistants-in-france-0 and they want applicants to know French (I've taken it in school for 8 years, but haven't studied it for 6 so I basically don't know any), and also be students (I graduated 3 years ago, and have been teaching in Korea for a bit) |

Investigate whether you could work in France as an auto-entrepreneur. Basically self-employed. |
