Can I arrive on a tourist visa, find a job I want and then get a Z visa without going all the way back home?
I'm legit with all required qualifications.
Can I do a visa run to another country? |

It depends on so many variables it would be impossible to answer authoritatively. There are many, many threads on here full of information, anecdotes and opinions. It depends on the employer, the local PSB, the city you'd be in and the province. The only people who can give you a definitive answer are your future employers, and they could be lying.
Personally, as an English teacher, I would tell you to forget about L to Z and concentrate on A to Z. |

There's a sticky at the top portion of the forum. Look there.
Then use the search function and then type in "Change L visa to Z visa".
And TA DA! there it is. |

You are 'legit' on everything but the required qualification.
