The thing is that 30k is entry level, anyone with half a brain should be able to move away from those jobs and move on to better gigs, having got to know a few people, and having obtained more experience.
Why would you stay in a job like that for more than a year? |

30,000 Baths per month is the standard full time competitive TEFL wage/offer for Thai government school entry EFL level newbies in the LOS....and has been so for the past 20 years or so....it is designed for young, 20 something year old native English speakers fresh out of college or university with a bachelors degree + TEFL certificate in hand, native English speakers who are not considered qualified teachers but EDUTAINERS. As I mentioned in my earlier posts the new Thai regulations for teaching English here will not have any effect on raising salaries for EFL teachers....on the contrary they will remain the same or even fall due to ASEAN membership integration which means that non-native English speakers such as Pinays (Filipinas) will flood the TEFL market here and work for LESS...as they are doing now. |

Due to ASEAN integration many Thai schools now are only hiring Filipinos (easier to get them work permits)...as mentioned in my previous email there are loads of Pinoys working here...and arriving here to teach English.. it is forecast that they will outnumber Native English Speakers in Thai schools in the very near future...thus pushing down the number of monthly Thai Baths offered in salary....expect salaries to fall to around Thai Baths 25,000/Monthly average for TEFL teachers in the Land of Smiles sooner than you think!!! |
