In 2012 I came very close to signing a contract with either Shangqiu Normal University or Henan University in Shangqiu. In the end I decided not to go there, because they were trying to complicate the visa process: I was to sign the contract 2 months before my Z-visa expired, but rather than extending my visa, they still wanted me to apply for a new visa in my own country, and go through an expensive medical before I came back to China. I said no.
You might be in a different position. What would help is for you to
insist on speaking to a western person who taught at the university last year. Insist on getting the contact details now, before you come to China. It will give you peace of mind. |
