|
|
There is a foreigner calling and emailing people (my former Beijing roomie is one of them) and he uses two different names of "Jordan" and "Frank" and never gives a last name. He uses Yahoo and Hotmail accounts (many) and is a foreigner based in Beijing calling from a mobile phone number 86-182********5
This joker claims to be the FAO for Beijing High School No. 80 ( a legitimate and famous school in Beijing) and offers high-paying jobs. But after he gets your resume and passport copies, he vanishes and and you never hear from him again even if you have a degree in education, a TEFL certificate, and three years teaching experience as my former Beijing roomie does.
Here's the kicker, my roomie asked him specific questions about the school, like how many foreigner teachers are on the staff? who is the Principal's ? He gave wrong answers! He told my roomie that the Principal was Mr. Chen. When he looked it up on the internet he discovered the principal was a woman and her name is not "Chen"!
The mobile phone number was traced to some old ads that lead to www.ibo.org Is this group new or do they have a track record, and why must one "legitimate" FAO use two names?
This looks like the same YCIS fake recruiter scam. Maybe the same people involved as well. |

I say this simply because I was interviewed for a position at No. 80 Experimental High School. I don't want it to be bogus! The agency who interviewed me has my background check right now. So, I am wondering if the job is legitimate.
I got my job from a Chinese guy called Danny (still advertising for the same positions on the Beijinger), from some government agency based in Chaoyang district. It looked legitimate, and I applied. I had a Skype interview with him in April. Then I got the teachers at the school I was then at to prepare a film of me teaching and send it to China. Then there was an interview with the No. 80 Experimental High School itself. Much more recently than that, I sent my background check to China by DHL. The agency has been in contact with me since April
Salary, 13,000 yuan per month with a 2000 yuan rent subsidy. Not ideal, but there it is. |

Bob,
I'm not saying that you have mental problems, but I think you need to take up a hobby. You'll find it to be very therapeutic. |

Really Bud, what research have you done on this issue that proves me wrong? Let's see your "proof" or even "evidence". If you know so damn much about everything as you pretend on a daily basis, please explain who "Jordan" and "Frank" are, (the same man with the same voice) and what are their last names and titles? If they truly worked for Beijing High School 80, please tell us why "they" (he) didn't know the principal of the school was a woman and couldn't tell my former roomie how many foreign teachers worked there.
If I were the Principal of this High School I would surely put up a post at the 13 ESL forums that are alleging the same fraud and explain that there is no scam, the 25,000 jobs are real, and the full names of Jordan and Frank are _________ who can be reached at the school's listed telephone number and provide their job titles and explain why they don't have a school email address. Got it?
If you want to retain your self-proclaimed title as "resident genius" answer these questions and I will truly be impressed with your infinite knowledge.

Can you please identify the agency? There are only two "government owned" HR agencies in China (Fesco & CIS) and Fesco does not recruit teachers. Beijing High School 80 is a REAL SCHOOL and your situation seems different because the scam offers only started when the summer break started (while the admin staff of the school are on holiday) and the scam offers were 25,000 yuan per month (not realistic for any teacher other than AP certified positions) Check out the post at scam.com and you will see what I mean. I can't be sure, but I think you are safe. |
