So I've got a great offer, school wants no criminal record. I got it today, it shows 2 23 year old traffic violations and 2 failure to appears. This was not alcohol related, just moving violations. Are they going to deny me a Z visa over this? Is is better to just put these through Photoshop? These are not criminal violations, but at least in California, they show up. Not sure what to do. |

I want to add: my FBI/national registry clearance does not show these violations. The problem is, it is a year old, and therefore out of date. I can't get one in less than 5 or 6 weeks, and I need it sooner. Any advice would be appreciated. I just don't have faith that whatever faceless bureaucrat will be able to/want to be bothered to make a distinction as to a moving violation and FTA vs. a criminal matter.... |

If you submit the local CBC, explain that a failure to appear in court is normal if one doesn't care to contest the ticket. I don't think anyone in China will care about your traffic tickets.
Good luck! |

It is a tough call. The newest requirement is that the check is supposed to be clean - like nothing on it. No Chinese government cog is going to do you a favor, as it comes back on him if you were to cause trouble later.
I would assume where you are applying now does not require the national check, which is why you have the option to submit the state one?
This requirement is not coming from the school as you stated, it is coming from the local jurisdiction. You need to find out from them what is acceptable. Then as the schools are often clueless, you need to confirm through other sources.
Where is the school located? That would help determine what is acceptable. |
