I just arrived a week ago to start a new teaching job at a university in Shenzhen. My school failed to inform me that I needed to bring the originals of my police report and diploma with me (I thought I just needed to show the originals at the embassy to get the z visa; now they say I need them here).
Are the originals ABSOLUTELY necessary for the foreign expert certification, or is there any possibility they would accept copies.
Also not sure if this matters at all, but I teach at a professional school, not TEFL, and would be showing a diploma of an advanced degree. My school thought they might be less suspicious since it seems the policy is to crack down on English teachers with fake BAs?
Any advice/experience apprecaited. |

Hi rj1984,
I have been living in Shenzhen for the past few years and since I have been here you have always needed your original documents to get the Foreign Expert Certificate.
Your school should have made this clear to you before you arrived - you may well need to get a relative to Fed Ex them to you. |

I've lived in China 5 years and never needed an original, until recently - the British Council requires them |
