Did anyone know Bill Lundergan?
I just found out he passed away 4 years ago in Bangkok. We worked together here in Japan for several years before he moved to Thailand.
This is shocking news to say the least. He was only 59 years old.
Rip Bill. |

Sorry to hear your friend passed away....but there are a lot of EFL teachers in their 50's here in Thailand who pass away early...usually due to very unusual circumstances! |

You mean like falling off of their 11th floor balcony? That seems to happen a lot, especially in Pattaya. |

59 is young, especially since we aren't doing labor intensive work. My dad can't even really walk well anymore and needs knee replacements from working as a floor layer all his life.
My guess is many of those older ex-pat dudes in places like Thailand and Philippines are walking heart attacks and drinking and smoking way too much and eating bad fast-food without getting any regular exercise.
Do you know how Bill died? |

Hello there,
One of my EFL colleagues in the Land of Smiles passed away due to food poisoning a few years ago...another good friend of mine passed away at 55 years old some 10 years ago two weeks after he got married in Samui. Need I say more?? |

I don't know how Bill died actually.I was hoping someone may have known him or heard of him in Bangkok.
He was a heavy drinker and he did smoke but as someone mentioned it could have been an accident. |

Caution: Thai wives!
As an imbiber of whiskey and smoker, I try to remember what the late Christopher Hitchens said about his drinking and smoking habits before he died: What you do to your body at 40 catches up with you when you are between 60 - 65. You will pay the price.
While listening to him in the interview made an impression on me, it's often hard to change those habits.
A lot of TEFL'ers, specifically men, are living that lifestyle, though. |
