Hello, I have recently obtained my elementary teaching license and am working towards an ESL masters. As a result, I'd like not to have to get a TEFL certificate etc. I am going to Spain near the end of June and really hope to find a teaching job while there. I do not speak Spanish (with the exception of my small foundation of vocabulary). Any tips on looking for work would be greatly appreciated. I am going at this blind. Thanks a ton.

Hi Brooke,

We'd love to help you, but we need more specific questions regarding your job search.

You can try a search here and if that doesn't answer your questions, please feel free to ask us

Well, welcome to the board, Brooke. I don't think that you need to speak Spanish in order to get a job here, although it'd make your life easier. Neither do you explicitly need an EU Passport, though you can't work here legally without one, unless a company sponsors you for a work permit. As many of the posters will tell you, there are plenty of non-passport owners working here... As for getting jobs, Sendrigo is quite right that we'll likely need more information to help you, but presuming that you're looking for an academy job, then either refer to a teaching site (like here, or www.tefl.com, say), or go to a search engine, bring up the place you're interested in, get a list of some schools and start sending your CV. Very Happy And good luck.

Thanks for your responses. Any information offered is always appreciated. I would like to find a teaching job working with children, aged anywhere from four years through to twelve years old. I will be traveling to Spain around June 18th, but will not be in the country for long. I would however, be ready to start working at anytime and am ready to commit to a long term contract. When I am in Spain, what should I bring with me for job hunting (ie. resume, cover letter etc). Next, how do I go about submitting this information about myself to potential employers? Not being able to speak the language is going to make this a harder challenge, but I am up for that. I just need some direction. Thanks again for any imput, Brooke
