|
|
So after our move here, I received a waiver on paying into the Japan pension scheme until June, since my current gig started in April.
The payment tickets are a bit confusing, as they require the previous month's payment by the end of the current month.
Since I have a waiver until June, does this mean I need to make a payment in June (for the month of May) or do I make my first payment in July (for the month of June).
I'm leaning toward the latter, but really don't want to call City Hall again to ask. |

Nobody wants to enable my penchant for laziness, eh?
Guess I'll have to go ahead and give City Hall a call then.
It's good practice anyway, but my confidence in Japanese is somewhat lower over the phone. |

Sorry. I can't really give advice because the company I work for handles that. Good luck! I'm sure you'll figure it out. It just takes time with Japanese bureaucracy. |

Yeah me too, I also have no idea. Asked my wife, and she can't give me an explanation that is under 5mins long. So sorry |

No worries, guys. Thanks for trying, though! Before our deferment was approved, I had already made a few payments and these were recently returned to me, so I guess there's no harm in making a mistake with these things. I suppose I'm just so used to being more certain (relatively speaking, anyway) of financial matters. |

Sorry for bumping and hijacking, but had a question.
So...haven't been paying into the pension and it's my fault for overlooking this, so no need to get on me for it, as I thought my company was handling it all this time. I now owe quite a bit.
I'm curious, with the pension, don't you get the money back if you leave or am I confusing it with something else? |

The pension system is complicated, and even Japanese people don't full understand it. |

I figured it out now, but received refunds for months I shouldn't have paid. The refund forms were probably more of a pain than a phone call would've been, though.
Yes, if you leave, you can get the previous three years worth of payments back. As I don't plan to leave, I'm paying it. |

Due to health issues, I'm planning on moving home next spring, and even the doctor said Eikaiwa work is bad for my health. I'm currently being hospitalized. ^^
So I must pay up what I owe. At least I get it back when I leave. ^^ |

Sorry to hear about your health problems, but why bother paying if you will leave so soon? |

Wait ... if you are hospitalized, are you referring to national health insurance payments? I don't think we get these back. |

No, the pension. I got a letter recently pointing out that I haven't paid and how much I owe. One of my coworkers picked up my mail and brought it here. I always thought the pension thing was optional anyway. |

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with it if you're leaving soon. |

But I do wonder if this would affect me if I do ever decide to live here again. |
