It's easier to be a single mom because I know it's all on me. It's not fun having a partner who tells you that the weekends are their "days off" so they won't "babysit" then. Sorry, but you don't babysit your own kids. You raise them.

Or when you expect help only to be let down.

Or are told at 9pm on Friday that you will see them tomorrow afternoon because they're going drinking. I think it's worse to get your hopes up about having coffee with a friend and having your partner then tell you they're goinh out so you can't have a break rather than knowing you won't get a break at all.

Or when you're made to feel guilty for going shopping for an hour when they are out all night.

Basically I'd rather have all the responsibility than assume someone will help me out and then have them back out and not help at all.

The irony? I always wanted to be a single mom. I never wanted to get married and just wanted to adopt. I guess you should be careful what you wish for!

Though in all honesty I wouldn't trade it for the world. Challenging but totally worth it.

I know a teacher in Japan and it worked out. Her daughter studies at a university in the USA now.
She was a single mom and she managed.
