I will be travelling from Guadalajara to Puerto Escondido via a bus. Can anyone suggest the best route, bus company etc? We plan on making a stop overnight somewhere (suggestions welcomed here too!) Thanks! Christina |

I would strongly suggest using ETN as much as possible. They generally cost a little more than other lines, but in my opinion, it is well worth it. of course there are other lines that aren't too bad....PrimeraPlus is usually pretty reliable and OK for comfort.
As far as routes go, it really depends on how much time you want to take. Are you going to be doing some sightseeing along the way, or do you just want to get there? I think the most direct route would be Guadalajara to Mexico City via Leon. From MC you would go to Oaxaca City. You can get a semi-direct bus to Puerto Escondido from Oaxaca. If I remember correctly, you will be looking at a total of about 20 hours of on-bus time for the total trip. Your wait times in the respective stations will vary of course. |

My suggestion would be to take the coast route, which means going from Guadalajara to the coast and then just heading south. You can stop in Zihuatanejo or Acapulco. From Zihua to PE is about 11 hours--it's a little less than 8 from Acapulco. There are a number of buslines. Some of the ones coordinated by Estrella Blanca have leg rests--nice to have on long bus trips. |

Thanks for the advice!!
We do want to do a little sightseeing and maybe take a couple of days going. I have been to Oaxaca and have made the drive from there to PE so the coastal route sounds good!
