Thanks for the job info but I dont think any credentialled (degree, I mean)homo-sapiens would work for 2500rmb, < $100 per week. How can any employer attract a western person with travelling expenses, uni debts etc, to work for this amount? Do yourself a favour and try Dave's job posts. Idea

Do also note that they are 10 month contracts
so you don't get paid for summer holidays.

They are bottom of the pile jobs.

In the ad above it lists among the requirements "criminal records check". Does this mean anyone applying for this job has to produce evidence that their records have been checked or that they must agree to a check? I know absolutely nothing about this, so sorry if that question sounds stupid. I guess it's a good thing that they require this, but if they need evidence that the check has been done, how many people have this? Unless this is a Canadian thing, in which case I wouldn't know as I'm a Brit.

Question

Nic:

I presume that they mean you have to produce evidence of having undergone a check but maybe they just mean willingness to undergo one. Can any canadians help out here?

Basically it is a beaurocratic check for convictions for, or in certain cases for serious allegations of, offences involving sexual or physical abuse of children or other vulnerable members of society and comes in two forms, standard and enhanced.

The check is mandatory when going for most public or charity sector jobs involving close, supervisory, or one-on-one contact with kids in the UK. It's easy to get one although it costs 50 or so. In principle you just enter all your addresses of the last 6 years or so in a form, send it to the Criminal Records Office and they (eventually) do the rest. In practice the CRO seems to be ad inistered in such an extremely inefficient manner that it can take months of repeated to-ing and fro-ing of questions and answers before it arrives.

And of course the system only works if the applicant is honest...

Coming from Sheppey tho' I gues you might well have some serious problems obtaining a good one. Wink

I didn't know people were allowed to post jobs here? Isn't there another place for that?

And yes, that job is very lowest paying a person could find here. A check at anytime on any China job search and you will find at least this on offer and most likely better. But maybe you'll get lucky and net a fish here. I just want to encourage anyone with any sense at all...do a china job search. Spend five minutes on the net so that you'll know that is, hands down, the worst offer you can get here.

Good luck. Post these offers where they belong, please. If it stays here, let's keep making sure that nobody gets snagged by this or, if they do, at least they'll realize ahead of time how really utterly senseless they were before they made the decision and that, for whatever reason, they made the choice anyway.

K.
