I've done some searching on this topic in past threads and didn't find precisely what I was hoping to find. Basically, I'm hoping to get a job in KSA in August/September 2015. By the time that rolls around, I will have fairly minimal qualifications: BA in English, CELTA (or PCELT), 3 years of experience teaching English in the USA (all prior to CELTA), and one year of teaching English in the Middle East (Jordan). Having been reading the forum for a while, I recognize that my qualifications are nothing to write home about.
So here are my questions:
(1) For any jobs that are posted online, should I apply for those in the Spring semester, knowing that I can't go until Aug/Sept? Anything other than the typical contractor positions would be long shots, but if I do apply, should I do so then or should I wait until a month of so before? I will be working on having all of my paperwork in order in advance regardless. I can't go before August, so thus my question about applying for anything in March.
(2) Is it worth it for someone like me to attend the job fair at TESOL Arabia? Since I live in the Middle East, I could go to Dubai for the conference fairly easily. However, some threads seemed to indicate you can only get interviews at TESOL Arabia if you've already contacted people and they want to interview. I.e., would I most likely not even make it into any interviews there? |

Apply in April and you should be fine. Plus, most ads will specify they're hiring for the upcoming academic year.

Many employers who hire directly usually recruit at TESOL Arabia's job fair and will be looking for applicants with solid qualifications (e.g., a relevant MA and 2-3 years post-degree experience). That doesn't mean they'll automatically give your CV a toss. However, be aware the fair is well-attended by lots of highly-qualified job seekers.
Anyway, keep your eye out for job postings on TESOL Arabia's website; ads usually trickle in around the end of February up to the first day of the job fair. You'll notice that some postings instruct applicants to apply in advance of the fair, while most review CVs onsite.
TESOL Arabia's annual conference and job fair can be expensive, so you'll need to determine if it's worth your money and time to attend the events. Info can be found at (http://tesolarabia.org/tacon2015/). |

Thanks for the thoughts. That's helpful. |
