|
|
I am a bit afraid from what I've been reading.
I have a Master's (...in business) which has 12 credits through online coursework. From what I've heard The Saudi mission doesn't like those pesky online courses. I was trying to decide if I should submit my visa paperwork now, using my Master's or wait until i finally get that stupid letter of Method of Instruction back from my undergrad (which was a traditional brick-and-mortar, face-to-face degree).
I've been waiting for it for a while and classes have already started in KSA so I'm kinda getting anxious about waiting for my letter from the school.
I'm kind of leaning towards just submitting my paperwork now as-is but I would hate to have everything rejected and then do everything over again with my Bachelors.
Any opinions? |

er... are you applying for an EFL job? If so, how is a Master's in business going to help? |

Don't second guess these people. Use your bachelor's and get on with it. |

I also have a TESOL Cert. (which was earned at the same school as my Master's)
I submitted my Master's because you have to have an actual degree with a visa application and this was my degree with all of --easily obtainable-- necessary paperwork.
This by the way was the paperwork that I submitted to the company that hired me so I assumed it was what is necessary to complete a visa application. |

I wasn't second-guessing. Nobody told me to submit with my bachelor's I was just going to do it as a precaution.
The problem is that my undergrad school was taking forever to send it so I was thinking maybe I was just being overly paranoid. |

I have been waiting for nearly a month and I am stupidly paying a visa agent who didnt do it right the first time. From my experience with my inexperience, along with the fact that SACM rarely if ever answers the phone and/or emails, my advice would be to get the bachelor's attested for now (and for the sake of getting your visa before the school year is over); once you have your visa in hand, you can then take the "chance" of getting your master's attested.
There is a lot of wisdom and experience on the board. We all have different circumstances. One thing that is sure when it comes to working in KSA: nothing! Make sure that you provide a marriage certificate if your name on your diploma differs from yourname on your passport. This can save about two or three weeks.
Good luck. |

Although you submitted your master's for authentication because it was the easiest to obtain university documentation for, expect it to be rejected by the SACM because of the online coursework. To ensure your visa application will go through without any hiccups due to your academic credentials, wait until your other university registrar has completed your BA documentation before submitting your visa application. By the way, the Saudi Ministry of Higher Ed, not the SACM, made the rule about degrees with online/distance coursework.
Contracting companies recruit and hire year round; it's the norm for new teachers to continuously arrive in KSA throughout the academic year. You'll get to there when you get there. However, making assumptions and taking shortcuts with your visa application process can end up costing you more in time and money. |

I believe that the degree that you send to the SACM must match the degree that is mentioned in your contract, which must also be sent to the SACM |

Your Master's will not be excepted by the SACM. I'm not just being a troll. I have a Master's from SUNY with 6 online credits pertaining to my thesis. My degree was never signed by the SACM. The Saudis are particular about quality when we are talking about education and will only except degrees of the highest standards. |

Thanks You guys for your great advice. I went ahead and submitted it without waiting for my BA authentication (oh the irony! When I arrived home from sending off my visa app at the post office, there was my BA auth in that evenings post)
....AAAAANYWAY lol
I just found out that my credentials were accepted under my Master's soooo thas cool! I was told by several other applicants that as long as the amount of coursework done online is below a certain number, then you are fine.
I'm in! Just waiting to get my stuff together and flight tix then I am OUT!

Why scared? Is it because you signed on with a contracting company? |

Go ahead and send a copy of your Master's to SACM. Just don't send only your Master's because they are not likely to attest it. If your Master's copy is stamped and signed it is attested, if not it isn't attested. |
