Does anyone commute using their own car? If so, I would like to hear about your car buying process, insurance, and common problems one may experience due to the heat in S.A.
Thanks |

Advice:
Never ever buy a used car from a Saudi.
When I worked in the Magic Kingdom, I bought three used cars, the last one was an estate SUBARU LEGACY.
The best option is to look in the Souk (Market) of cars, usually is located in the industrial zone (in Arabic they call it Al-Mantikah Al-Sinnayiah), also it depends on which city your are living in.
When I was there, the insurance was not obligatory, I drove without any insurance during my time in the Magic Kingdom, and thank God that I am still alive after all those driving horrors of the Saudis!
The process of buying a used car is not easy, you have to go to the car market and take somebody who knows about car mechanics to help in the process. The other option for you, is to buy from an expat - there are online websites which advertise for car selling in the Magic Kingdoms, check them.
All the cars in the Magic Kingdom are fitted with Air-Conditioning, so no problem with the heat. |
