Hi Gang,
I've got a weird situation here, hope someone can help. I am currently on a student visa and have been so for almost 6 months now. I've been renewing every two months (I'm going to one of the non-approved schools, so I cannot get a student ARC) and now I was supposed to leave on June 10th.
HOWEVER, the last time I went to get my visa extended the woman that did the paperwork screwed up and gave me an extension until June 30th. That means there is a stamp in my passport that says I am permitted to stay until june 30th.
I currently have a new job lined up, but the work permit won't be ready until after june 10th. Therefore I am in a bit of a pickle.
My questions are:
1) Should I just say screw it and just not worry about it, since the stamp in my passport says I can stay until the 30th?
OR
should I play it safe, since I may overstay my 6 months and do a visa run?
2) If I do a visa run, then I will go for a 60 day landing visa. In that case, will I have problems converting my landing visa into a work permit? That is can I still get my work permit?
thanks! |

Maybe you can actually help me. I have arrived here with my fiance, and although she has a BA, I don't. I have been told by recruiters that I can keep extending my visa with a school that fudges my attendance record in a mandarin course. While I really do want to take mandarin I doubt I will have the time to travel to tapei every day to attend...... Anyone know of a school that will do it for me.....(I dont want to take the job with the recruiter so I cant very well ask him for it......)
Thanks in advance.. |
