Hi everyone,
About 6 months ago I put up a post regarding a survey I did (which actually got ripped to shreds by some of the old timers on here). The survey asked if teachers would like to have a Special Interest Group (SIG) devoted to working conditions.
The overwhelming majority of teachers supported this, so myself and another ELT blogger put in a proposal to IATEFL to organise such a SIG. This was rejected, the main reason being that this was not 'professional development'. In their eyes...
So, if change is not going to happen from the top down, maybe it will happen from the bottom up. A group of us teachers have been organising in Berlin, meeting and putting on events including a 'Lesson Jam' - which have been well received.
If you want to read more about this, and maybe form your OWN group then read this post below.

Remember, to organise a group like ours, all it takes is more than one pissed-off teacher. |
Cheers!
