At the risk of seeming facetious, but based on my experience of Saudi security guards, the only thing that might be less reassuring would be armed security guards.

Those with weapons either don't know how to or are not permitted to shoulder their weapons when they check your ID. It's hard to get use to looking down the barrel of a sub-machine gun six to ten times a day. And in a culture where accidents aren't prone to happen, that is all cause and effect is determined from on high, awareness of this attitude can add to an already stressful day. |
