|
|
Hi,
I am a highly qualified English Instructor with 26 years experience. I have been teaching and directing university English in Saudi Arabia for the past 12 years and would love a change. I understand that there are some great jobs in Turkey, but have been unable to locate any that pay well. So, where are the best university English teaching jobs in Turkey? |

It would help to know your qualifications (e.gi., degree level/major, present job title, etc.), age, and nationality. Also, what salary range are you seeking? Salaries in Turkey aren't like those in the Gulf. |

From my research, my understanding is that there aren't any that pay well relative to E. Asia or the Gulf. I believe university salaries top out around 6000 lira/month (~ $2650 USD). Also, if you care about saving money and living in another country one day (US/EU/Oz etc), given the dismal exchange rate and you may wish to rethink relocating to Turkey. |

I am an American and a native speaker of English. I hold 2 Master Degrees in Education from the US (one in ESL Instruction). |

Depends what you mean by "good", one that pays well? wages didn't change much in the five years I was there.
I believe Sabanci have high academic standards and pay around 6000. Abdullah Gul in kayseri have unknown academic standards but will pay any native speaker with a cert 8000. 4-6000 is the norm in Istanbul prep schools: Bilgi, Koc, bahcesehir, ozyegin, sehir, are probably the best, watch out for the rest.....
the biggest problem is the lack of academic standards in the majority of the uni's, education system is totally unregulated being under the influence of govt cronys.
It just seems unsustainable as a place to develop a career in every way. good for short periods perhaps. |

Maybe. The recruiter has done a lot of business for employers in KSA, so there's no reason to believe they're flaky. The challenge will be finding enough applicants with both a BA and MA in English, education, and/or TESOL.

I have already applied for this one. The recruiter is a really helpful and nice guy. |

That level of salary (and more) is what teachers earn in the Gulf. The OP won't get anything close to that in Turkey. |

I am looking for a university position. Are the salaries still below 9,000 lira? |

I doubt whether they have risen much since yesterday. |
