Hi All

I am planning to be in Vietnam within the next four weeks to work as an ESL teacher and I am a bit concerned about whats the best visa to use.

From what I have heard you can enter with a tourist visa and when you find employment, the school will help you organize something better - Is that correct?

If this is the case I could get a 1 months visa or even a 3 months visa from South Africa, (my current location) for about USD125?

Will a 1 months suffice?

Appreciate any help on this!

From what I've been told Yes that seems to be correct.

I posted this in another thread, but I'll repost it here. It's from the RMIT site (RMIT is an Australian Uni that has a campus in HCMC and does a CELTA course).

Quote:
Visas

People who wish to work in Vietnam should enter the country with a business visa (eg for six months). These are easy to get and costs depend on the embassy/country of application. Once in the country, visa renewals cost as little as $60 for six months. These can be arranged in-country.

So that's what I'd be inclined to do. There's a fair bit of general information on the RMIT site too.

Can one get a business visa without a job? Seems strange to apply for business visa and then look for a job after arrival, but if it works.... sounds like a good idea. I'll ask at the office here in Seoul.
