I've been living in Inner Mongolia for three years. The bitter cold and dust streaked buildings have started to lose their once-gritty charm.
I am currently about to start my Masters of Applied Linguistics by correspondence. I figure a salary cut for a year or so won't really matter if I am working towards a better career (Salaries are surprisingly high out here on the steppe). I've travelled extensively through the southwest and have loved it. I basically want to trade salary for better quality of life (I wager it will help me study better)
Firstly, I'd really like to know what university jobs are like in these provinces (in order of priority)
Yunnan
Guizhou
Hainan
Guangxi
Sichuan
Secondly, I'd like to know what doing your masters by distance is like while teaching at a chinese university. What kind of difficulties are there?
I know several posters have lived/worked in these areas and I would REALLY appreciate any feedback you could give me on these areas.
Sincere thanks,
A shivering Aussie on the steppes
