|
|
I've been thinking about working in Istanbul next year (my grandmother was from there, and I have family in Turkey and Greece, and I feel that the culture is part of me though I've never gone) but the research I've done online seems to indicate that getting a Visa is basically impossible, and most schools expect you to work illegally.
I'm not really comfortable with that. The standard 3ish month window yeah yeah, but working indefinitely without a work visa would put me on edge. What's the situation here?
I have a BA in Linguistics, a CELTA, and 2.5 years experience teaching in all age groups. I could potentially attain Greek citizenship if it would help at all, but that would be difficult and I imagine it would only make things worse.
Would it be possibly for me to get a legal work visa to work in Turkey? |

Er re working legally that depends on whether you work at a K-12/unı or a language school
If the former, it's a legal requirement for them to get you a work visa
It should be for the latter, but not always the case
FYI a work visa is linked to specific job not a carte blanche to work anywhere in the country and so it has to go through your employer
BTW what nationality are you? (I'm guessing US because of the "gone") |

Are there any visas for foreigners that do give you "carte blanche"? I'm married to a Turk and am considering relocating to Istanbul.

No
But if you get Turkish nationality, you won't need one |
