Hi everyone,
This is my first post and I definitely find myself in a unique situation. I'm currently an English teacher for a large company in Shanghai. I have a residence permit and my work visa expires on January 24th this year. I've decided to take Mandarin courses at a university in Shanghai and have been accepted and paid my tuition fees. The courses start at the end of February. Now for the interesting part: I want to apply for my student visa while I'm still working on my current work visa. Is this possible? The lady at the University visa office was very vague and said that I might need some kind of document showing that I've quit or was about to quit. Has anyone ever heard of this? If all else fails I would fly to HK when I finish, re-enter China on a tourist visa and apply for my student visa. I would prefer to have it all taken care of in China though. Thanks! |

As I understand it, you will have to give up your Work permit book FEB and while still on the resident sticker in your passport, your program should be able to give you the paperwork to take to the PSB. |
