Dear Colleagues,
The authorities contacted the College today about a potential threat to College's non-Saudi staff. The threat seems to fit into a broader warning issued throughout the Qassim region. The Prince has called in special forces for the protection of non-Saudis according to what I've been told. The College, with *** as the lead, has reacted in turn and is trying to ascertain the specifics of this issue so that we might act accordingly. At present, how immediate and serious the threat is, is still unknown. We have been told to consider moving the staff into 1 or 2 buildings to facilitate better security. But again, we're still in the fact finding stage.
*** briefed those of us who were here today and the College will brief the staff whenever news arrives. I'm happy to chat with those away via skype or phone if desired. My personal view is that while this is serious, it seems to be handled and within what I'd expect in Saudi. I'm not packing a bag to leave. With that said, your safety is paramount to us and we want you all to be in the know so that you can make decisions according to your best judgment.
Cheers,
*** |

Have a plan for what you would do if gunmen 'stormed' your location. Always best to leg it if you can. |

The college is in the middle of nowhere so running is probably not an option.
Hopefully the fat American in charge their first target.
ICEAT, COE, Giz-Festo could not give less of a f&ck about teacher safety. |
